How does the Digitale Einreiseanmeldung Work?

All the passengers who travel to Germany, but who have been in a high-risk area / country prior to arrival, must complete he Digital Registration on Entry for Germany.

Be also aware, that all travellers, regardless of their travel history, must also show proof of one of the following:

  • Negative COVID-19 test result
  • Proof of vaccination
  • Recovery certificate

If you have been in a high-risk area or country before coming, you will have to go through a quarantine for 10 days once you arrive in Germany.

The passengers who have been in an area/ country of variants of concern, the quarantine will then be increased to 14 days.

The fully vaccinated passengers against the virus, or who have a recovery certificate, are exempted from the quarantine rule.

The completed form will need to be downloaded or printed in PDF format. This will allow the travel authorities and border immigration officers to control and confirm that you are following Germany’s coronavirus policy.

What is meant by a high-risk area or country?

Areas and countries that have an especially high number of COVID-19 cases are classified as high-risk areas by German health authorities.

What is an area of variants of concern?

Regions with a widespread of a coronavirus variant, which is not widespread in Germany, are then being considered areas of variants of concern.

Who Needs to Complete the Digital Entry Registration for Germany?

All passenger who have been in a high-risk country or area of variants of concern within 10 days prior to arrival in Germany must complete the Germany health declaration form.

If a traveler has been in many countries within the specified 10 days, the rules will then apply to all those areas.

It is very important to bear in mind that due to the constantly evolving COVID-19 situation, the list of restricted countries may be subject to change at short notice.

Which country is being classified as a high-risk country?

If you have been more in a restricted area for more than 24 hours, then you will have to apply for the Germany travel health form.

If you have been in a high-risk area or country for less than 24 hours, or without a stopover, then you will be exempted from this requirement.

Do I need the Digital Entry Registration if I am transiting through Germany?

If you have been more in a restricted area, but you are transiting through Germany for no more than 24 hours, then you are exempted to complete the online registration.

Is the Germany Health Declaration Form mandatory if I am visiting family?

Visitors entering Germany for the purpose of seeing close relatives, spouses, and partners for less than 72 hours, are exempted from the entry requirement.

However, this exemption does not apply to passengers who have been in an area of variants of concern.

Germany Health Declaration Form Requirements

Applicants will have to give the following information:

  • List of countries visited in the last 10 days
  • Confirmed travel to Germany
  • Place to self-quarantine for 10 days (if applicable)

All passengers aged 12 and over — regardless of time spent in restricted countries, will have to show:

  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19
  • Negative antigen test, taken within 48 hours of travel
  • Negative PCR test, taken within 72 hours
  • Recovery certificate, no less than 28 days and no more than 6 months before entry

Completing the Germany Health Declaration Form

After giving your travel history, you will then proceed to the registration page.

You will be asked to provide the following information:

  • Confirmation of vaccination, negative test result, or recovery certificate
  • Personal details (name, date of birth, contact details, etc.)

Afterwards, you will have to verify your identity, by either an email or a text message.

After completing the above step, you will have to give information concerning your accommodation in Germany.

Then, you will be asked if you fall under any of the exemptions, before uploading proof of your vaccination status, test result, or recovery.

The completed Germany travel health form will then after be sent to your email address in PDF format. You can either print a copy or show it on a mobile device.
